Jenaer Kunstverein, Laudatio: Prof. Dr. Kai Uwe Schierz, 26. Februar 2008 (selection)

Natalie Ital seduces our perception to look closely. She is showing thousands of smaller and bigger details that incite our visual curiosity which she is leading mostly to the very trivial objects of everyday life and popular culture. She impresses the viewer by the virtuosity with which she is dealing with light and colors and by the balance of figure and background. Nevertheless her images do not please the classical longing for harmony and balance but the fragment is given prominence altogether. Chaos and order, motion and standstill, the metaphysical and the banal, are creating an outstanding and specialized imagery which artistically pulls out all the stops. The attitude, the unquestioned lust for life and the play in Natalie Itals photograms reflect all the weirdest and vital daydreams - which we find unrealistic and even odd when we are growing older - in an inextricable manner.
In the combination of the opposed - regarding the motifs as well as the sentiences of the viewers –we do find something like the statement of the artist, a statement that reaches beyond producing art and stands for a way of life where the vividness plays a more important role then the rule and the canon and where dreaminess comes before rational thought, diversity before uniformity, the pluralism in the expression of life before making a distinct choice.

Natalie Ital succeeds in a visual feat of persuasion using photographic coloristic means and now I will be quiet following her arguments willingly.
